Policy Submissions & Advocacy
As part of the Fair Share Campaign, we make submissions to government on both specific issues and broader economic or policy reform. These documents show how Greater Western Sydney is being left behind — and what needs to change.
General Submissions
2026 Orchard Hills Rezoning Submission – We emphasised that growth in Orchard Hills must be planned as part of a coordinated, place-based strategy rather than a standalone rezoning outcome. Our submission argued that housing delivery must be aligned with infrastructure, transport and services from the outset, and called for a more integrated approach to sequencing development, protecting community character, and ensuring long-term liveability for existing and future residents.
2026 Proposed Statewide Community Participation Plan (NSW) Submission – We emphasised that community participation is often misaligned with how people actually experience change, with engagement concentrated early while interest peaks when impacts become visible. Our submission argued that participation must remain active at the point of material change and called for stronger standards around inclusivity, cumulative impact and transparency to ensure communities can meaningfully shape the places they live in.
2026 Submission to the Senate Select Committee on Intergenerational Housing Inequity – We emphasised that intergenerational housing inequity is no longer emerging, it is entrenched. In Greater Western Sydney, access to secure, well-located housing is increasingly determined by when you entered the market, not your needs or contribution. Our submission argued that current planning, tax and infrastructure systems are compounding this divide, and called for practical reforms to improve access, unlock public land, and ensure housing delivery creates fairer outcomes across generations.
2026 NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into Data Centres – We emphasised that Western Sydney is rapidly becoming the centre of Australia’s digital infrastructure and argued that this growth must deliver fair outcomes for local communities. Our submission called for stronger planning frameworks to manage energy use, heat impacts and infrastructure demand while ensuring communities hosting data centres receive equitable economic and environmental benefits.
2026 NSW Legislative Council Select Committee into Youth Justice – We highlighted how unequal access to services, education pathways, safe public spaces and early intervention in Greater Western Sydney contributes to youth justice involvement. Our submission called for stronger preventative investment in community infrastructure, youth programs and local support services to address the structural drivers that place young people at risk.
2026 Submission to the Draft Sydney Plan – We highlighted how unequal access to services, education pathways, safe public spaces and early intervention across Greater Western Sydney is shaping long-term social and economic outcomes. Our submission called for a stronger place-based approach within metropolitan planning, embedding preventative investment in community infrastructure, youth services and accessible local support to ensure growth delivers equitable, opportunity-rich communities.
2026–27 NSW Pre-Budget Submission – We called for a fair share of housing, transport and preventative infrastructure for Greater Western Sydney, arguing that decades of under-investment are now driving avoidable costs in health, housing and workforce participation.
