How we stay accountable, transparent, and mission-aligned.
The Greater Western Sydney Advocacy Network (GWSAN) is committed to transparent, ethical, and community-led governance.
Our structure ensures that decisions are evidence-based, equity-focused, and shaped by the lived experience of people across Greater Western Sydney.
This page brings together our core governance documents, frameworks, and principles. As GWSAN grows, this page will continue to expand to include additional policies, reports, and accountability measures.
Our Governance Approach
GWSAN operates on a model of collective leadership, community participation, and transparent decision-making.
Our governance framework is designed to:
Ensure our work remains aligned with our mission and values
Embed the Fair Share Framework into all strategic decisions
Maintain high ethical and professional standards
Support volunteers with clear processes and expectations
Enable strong partnerships with universities, councils, NGOs, and community groups
Key Governance Documents
These documents form the foundation of how GWSAN operates.
GWSAN’s Constitution outlines the organisation’s legal structure, governance processes, membership rules, and decision-making powers.
It sets the formal basis for our operations and ensures accountability to both our members and the community we serve.
The Fair Share Framework is our core equity model, detailing how Greater Western Sydney is systematically disadvantaged across infrastructure, investment, planning, health, climate resilience, and opportunity.
It guides everything we do: research, advocacy, storytelling, partnerships, and campaigns.
Our Strategic Plan sets out the long-term vision for GWSAN, including:
Strategic priorities
Theory of change
Advocacy focus areas
Key programs and campaigns
Long-term goals for Western Sydney equity
The Business Plan outlines how GWSAN delivers the Strategic Plan through:
Committee structure
Operational workflows
Annual priorities
Volunteer pathways
Partnership model
Resourcing approach
GWSAN’s work is delivered through five committees:
Executive
Research & Policy
Community Engagement & Advocacy
Digital & Communications
Partnerships & Capacity
Each committee operates under a clear Terms of Reference and contributes to GWSAN’s broader goals.
As GWSAN grows, we will publish additional governance documents here, including:
Code of Conduct
Media & Communications Policy
Data & Story Use Policy
Safeguarding Statement
Annual Reports
Risk Register
Governance Review Cycle
These will further strengthen transparency, trust, and accountability across the organisation.
