Advocacy in Action

Decisions about housing, transport, planning, infrastructure and public investment affect everyday life across Greater Western Sydney.

Yet many people experience barriers to participation because systems can feel:

• disconnected from lived experience

Advocacy in Action supports a more accessible and community-centred approach to civic participation.

The initiative recognises that stronger communities are built when people are supported to:

• understand systems

• contribute ideas

• participate confidently

• share lived experience

• engage in public conversations

• collaborate across sectors and disciplines

Advocacy is not only about protest or campaigning.

It can also involve:

• storytelling

The long-term goal is to help build stronger civic participation and healthier democratic engagement across the region.

GWSAN is a civic advocacy and research network working to support fairer housing, transport, healthy communities, civic participation and regional equity across Greater Western Sydney through research, public engagement and systems-level advocacy.
